Anyone else in Media Studies having more and more cognitive-dissonance-double-takes at the sight of the term “network,” which of course is prominent within both television studies and new media, but with almost entirely different meanings?  I keep seeing the term as a headline of a blog post or in a paragraph of an article, and keep mistaking it for itself, i.e., thinking the article is focusing on the Big Three/Four when it’s really about IP addresses, or that the item in my RSS reader is about Facebook friends when it’s about Conan or Leno.

Not sure what we might make of the relative prominence of each (?) term in its natural habitat, but man, it’s kinda gettin me down.
